Moving to the U.S.: Life in Miami

Miami is known as the ‘Gateway to the America,’ and is the fifth largest urban area in the U.S., with 5.5 million people in the larger metro area. If moving to the U.S., you should consider the sunny and cheerful city of Miami.

When you think of Miami, you think of sunny beaches. With hot and humid summers, and shorter, warm winters, highs are typically in the mid 70’s. Miami is located on a plain with the Florida Everglades to the west and Biscayne Bay to the east. It is fairly small in area, with only 35 square miles of land, the smallest of any major U.S. city.

The tropical weather of Miami creates opportunity for year-round outdoors activities, including: boating, sailing, and fishing, as well as snorkeling and scuba diving. There are also more than 80 parks and gardens in the city – if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Miami is known for its excellent air quality, drinking water, and clean streets – plus FORBES Magazine named it, “America’s Cleanest City”.

Miami is one of the country’s most important financial centers, and has over 50 skyscrapers, making the skyline the third most impressive in the U.S. It is a center for television production, and major music recording.

The Port of Miami is known as the ‘“Cruise Capital of the World,” and boasts the world’s largest cruise ships and operations.

The diverse population has attributed to the array of food that you’ll find on Miami’s coast. Caribbean and Latin American style flavors are infused with traditional American influences to create what’s call a “Floibbean cuisine.”

If you’re s sports fan – then Miami could be the Miami Dolphins, (NFL), Miami Heat, (NBA), Florida Marlins, (MLB), and the Florida Panthers, (NHL) are all just a close drive away.

When cross border moving to the U.S., discover Miami, and be surprised by all that you will find there.
